Enjoying Tea With Dragons

Let me start this book review with the following statement - this book is so freakin' CUTE!

Okay, back to the review!

Imagine if you will a world in which there are beings that grow tea from their horns and antlers. Welcome to The Tea Dragon Society, a book by New Zealand illustrator and graphic novelist Katie O'Neill. This oversized hardback will be a delight to both adults and children as they enter into this fantasy world filled with friendship, love, responsibility, and above all else - TEA!

"After discovering a lost Tea Dragon in the marketplace, Greta learns about the dying art form of Tea Dragon caretaking from the kind tea shop owners, Hesekiel and Erik. As she befriends them and their shy ward, Minette, Greta sees how the craft enriches their lives - and eventually her own." This well written story with lush pictures is a world that any tea lover will want to visit again and again!

Within this world, love comes in all forms and that made such an impact with me. Love of friends, romantic love, love of life and why it's lived, and even love and care of and from the Tea Dragons! There's a section from the Tea Dragon Handbook at the end of the book - the history of Tea Dragons and how to care for them, and even a detailed description and illustration of several Tea Dragons (my faovurites are the Earl Grey Tea Dragon and the Jasmine Tea Dragon). The second book, The Tea Dragon Festival, is already out - once you finish reading The Tea Dragon Society, you'll quickly purchase the second book.

Much thanks to Katie O'Neill for this wonderfully delightful book and I look forward to reading the second one!
