Tea Review - Avocado Leaf Tea

Image
Avocado leaves as TEA???? Yep! I had the pleasure of meeting the folks of Avocado Leaf Tea during the World Tea Expo last year and I have to admit - I was intrigued by their Tea. I mean, I love avocado slices on sandwiches and I LOVE guacamole, but TEA? Actually, avocado leaves are some of the healthiest leaves to consume. According to their website, avocado leaves are "a powerful antioxidant, a natural anti-inflammatory, beneficial in a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and helps kidney function." All of that in one cup of Tea. First Slurp:  The Tea bag I steeped gave off a slightly fresh smell - not in a bad way but more of bright and green. Like a perfect day in June. After allowing the bag to steep for quite some time, my First Slurp brought a smile to my face. The taste of the Tea is slightly grassy/vegetables cooked al dente with a hint of citrus. With every sip, the taste becomes more and more pronounced yet it's not a bad taste at all. The soothin

Tea Is A Good Friend of Mine - Allison

Image
Alright folks, here's another interview within the Tea Is A Good Friend of Mine Series - meet Allison! My name is Allison and I am the creator of Tea Time with Allison Lindsay. I live in the southern part of the United States. Originally, I am from Rhode Island and Maine, but moved farther south in my teens. My family has always drank tea. I grew up with English Breakfast and decaf black tea. Tea has always been a part of my life because my family would have a tea party every year to draw names for Christmas gifts. One side of my family is originally from England. So, I always grew up with tea ware and tea. I don’t officially work in the tea industry. I have no formal training as a tea specialist, tea master etc. I am a tea reviewer and blogger. I kind of fell into the role as a tea blogger and Tea Time with Allison Lindsay was born.  I really enjoy working with tea companies and reviewing their products. I feel like I am making a difference in the small business world and helpin

Tea Is a Good Friend of Mine - James

Image
Wow. It's September and we are six months into the pandemic. So much has changed - better, worse, and I really don't know. Yet, we still press on, even if it hurts. I wanted to return to this series because despite everything, we still need and cherish our connections. I want to strengthen mine through good conversations, books, artwork, and TEA! Recently, I added a new person to my Tea company - James. Not only is he a Tea drinker, but he's also the love of my life. He's also the Director of Art and so far has been an excellent addition to the company: 1 - What’s your name and what part of the world do you live in? Hi, I'm James. I live in Colorado, USA   2 - How long have you been drinking tea? What’s the story, morning glory? Tea has been in the house since I can remember. It was always the older generation's drink until I discovered it in my adulthood. Southern sweet tea brewed in glass jugs on sunny days as well as a warm cup of green tea with lemon were po

Tea Review - French Rose Earl Grey (NOLA Moms)

Image
I know it's been some time since I last posted on this blog. The blog isn't dead at all. However, several events have dropped into my life and turned it upside down. To start, I am currently in the process of moving to New Orleans; this has been a dream of mine for several years. Yesterday, I lost one of my brothers to Death. I am still grieving - he will be remembered and loved forever. I am also trying to keep it together while the world deals with the coronavirus - stay safe, everyone. Now, with that being said, here's the latest Tea review - French Rose Earl Grey from NOLA Moms! Let me say this first - as much as I enjoyed this blend, I also can't drink it anymore. Why? Well, let me tell you a little story..... I made a French press filled amount of the blend and wanted to enjoy it with a bagel while watching the latest in my online course regarding the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Era. While watching the lecture, I proceeded to drink over two cups

Candy With a Purpose

Image
While strolling through Hong Kong Market in Gretna, Louisiana several weeks ago, I stumbled across this package of goodies - Citrus Green Tea Candy from Bali's Best of Fusion Gourmet ! At first, I was kinda doubtful as to trying this candy - it's really easy to slap a flavour on some food item and the taste is far from the description. However, in finally trying some today . . . WOW! The candy literally tastes like iced sweet green tea with lemon. I dumped all of the candy in my bag because I know I'll be eating more of them very soon. I looked up Fusion Gourmet and learned that they support and donate to organizations that provide assistance to women and children, as well as "provide employment, education, and health care opportunities to a largely female workforce in Indonesia" (taken from their website). Kudos to them for doing such good works while making such delicious items! I'm always on the lookout for the strange and not-so-unusual uses of Tea

Tea Review: Colonial Bohea Pekoe Black Tea - Oliver Pluff and Company

Image
Happy Friday to all! Today, I decided to return to a tea that makes me quite giddy - Colonial Bohea (pronounced Boo-Hee) Pekoe Black Tea from Oliver Pluff and Company !  Every so often, I do enjoy a nice smoky tea ( Hu-Kwa from Mark T. Wendell Tea Company is my all time favourite) and I love telling people about lapsang souchong and how it can scent up half of your house when brewing it! The Colonial Bohea, although a black tea, is quite smooth on my stomach in the morning; in fact, I had three cups of it while taking my French Revolution course this morning! Vive le France! First Slurp: Like I said, this tea is quite smooth on my stomach. The First Slurp had a creamy smoky feel to it, with an undertone of earthy. You can add cream and/or sugar to this Tea, but quite honestly it doesn't need anything extra. You can enjoy this Tea all by itself. It's quite cold here in Memphis, so the Colonial Bohea is a good "stay indoors and watch movies or be creative" Tea.

Review - Stassen Jasmine Green Tea

Image
Now that the holidays are (somewhat) over, I'M BACK! Staring 2020 on a good foot or cup! While making my latest trip to New Orleans, I finally ventured into Hong Kong Market . If you ever visit New Orleans or you live there, this is the place to go to for all your international food needs! Whenever I go to an international market, I always go to the Tea aisle first - habit. Their aisle did not disappoint and it was there that I learned about Stassen Tea . Stassen Tea, located in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), appears to have quite the selection of teas on their website - I also picked up a box of their Ceylon Tea, like ya do. Okay, here we go - Jasmine Green Tea! As soon as I pulled out the bag of tea bags from the box, I had to smell the tea. WOW! The scent was quite a lovely blend of jasmine and green tea. I know that sounds really dumb, but bear with me - sometimes, with blends, you will get one ingredient overpowering the others, making you wonder just exactly what you ar
