Adventure With My Muses - It's Too Dang HOT!



 

Tea Muse: (fanning herself with a magazine as she's laid out on the couch) Good grief, it's too hot outside!

Frederica: (sipping a glass of ice-cold water) Quite. 

Me: Well, at least we've got all these fans blowing air on us . . . .

Tea Muse: (glaring at me)

Me: Alright fine, fine! Well, how about if we go somewhere cooler? 

Frederica: May I suggest a quick dip in the pool at the community center?

Tea Muse: (grumbling) I don't have a bathing suit.

Me: Okay . . . . so how about if we go to a bookstore? It'll be freezing inside!

Tea Muse: (grumbling) Don't have any money.

Frederica: (finishes her water then throws a piece of ice at Tea Muse) Alright, Miss Grumpy Pants, do YOU have any ideas? Because honestly, both I and Kimberly came up with some rather good ideas for you!

Tea Muse: (giving us death stares)

James: (coming out of his office) Here, have some money for ice cream! (returns to his office)

Tea Muse: Yay, thanks, James! 

Me: Woot!

Frederica: (looking outside) Um, ladies? 

(Tea Muse and I go to the window, then we all start laughing)

Tea Muse: SNOW? In JULY?!

Me: (still laughing) Welcome to Colorado.

  A young woman walked into the room, glanced around at the plethora of books for sale, and then noticed the older man assisting a customer as he stood behind the checkout table. He must be a volunteer, she thought as she began to slowly peruse the titles ready to be purchased and carted off to their new home. She flipped through a box of Fiction titles, only to wander to another box filled with graphic novels. She pulled out several books in a non-committal manner, then walked up to the man and set the books before him. Oliver offered her a smile that spoke - Welcome to the library book sale. So glad to see you here! Can you help me, she asked him, as his smile faltered just a little. I'm not sure which book to purchase, so could you read through them and let me know which ones sound interesting? The man resumed his regular smile as he replied - sure, glad to do it.
