Lessons Learned - Damn, I FINALLY Get It

They always say "Better late than never". So so so true. As I have gotten older, the lessons continue to hit me (softly) across the face. I can't help but laugh at myself when I finally get it. So, here is a list of things that I finally got:

When a person SHOWS you their character, believe them.

Not everyone on the planet likes you.

You don't have to like everyone on the planet.

Failure is not the end of the world.

Sometimes, you do need a day or two or three off.

No really, keep reading books and learning.

Not everyone wants to change, so don't make them. If what they're doing seems silly to you, focus on yourself instead.

Your path looks radically different than others, so don't compare.

Don't be envious of others' successes. Focus on your wins, no matter how big or small.

Sometimes, that thing you've always wanted and didn't get may be the biggest gift EVER.

Go with the flow, no matter how badly you want to control the situation.

Don't trust anyone who says - "you never listen to me". There might be a good reason why you don't.

When a person will love you ONLY if you fit their plans, walk away.

Cry if you need to. Scream if you need to. Laugh if you need to.

People can be assholes sometimes.

Learn a new hobby, if you can.

Be careful what you wish for because no really, you might just get it.

Money is not the source of happiness, only security. There is a difference.

Go for a walk when you can. Move your body as much as you can. The cubicle is not your friend.

Be creative and if you don't think you're creative, fuck that noise.

When that one person you know is constantly gossiping about everyone, chances are they are also gossiping about you to everyone.

We are riddled with fears, anxiety, anger, worry, and stress.

When you're about to get into an argument, pause and ask yourself if it's really worth it.

When you are at fault, apologize. That's it.

There are many people who will do everything they can to manipulate you.

Sometimes, you have to take that risk.

Don't What If yourself to death.

Drink more water because it truly does help your body, mind, and spirit.

All things in moderation, including moderation.

And finally - Be yourself no matter what it looks like. When people hate you because you're different than them, that's their problem, not yours. As long as you're not hurting anyone or yourself, fucking wear the purple socks.
